Heat pumps can be used to efficiently heat an indoor or outdoor swimming pool. Generally air source heat pumps will be used. In this application efficiencies of 500% can be achieved. This is higher than that for geothermal heating systems because the temperature gradient between the outside air temperature and the pool temperature is lower. Typically a pool would be heated to 28°C with an ambient outside temperature of 15°C. If heating is required through the year then a ground source collector system could be used to provide efficiencies of 300% to 400%. A combined air source/ water source system can be used to provide the greatest all year round efficiency. Geothermique can provide bespoke systems from 10KW to 100KW.
